Jennifer Walters’ new status quo has been revealed - and it proves it’s still not easy being green or gray. This has been a good comic, and I’m happy to have read it. The book has all the themes and arcs, and with a more distinct art style, a bit more consistent direction… but it’s no use speculating over what might have been. But you can also always see how this book stays just shy of the “amazing” category in my head, which is reserved for the likes of Fraction’s Hawkeye, BKV’s and current Runaways, Kamala Khan as Ms Marvel, early Silk and so on. By that I mean that it has always been entertaining, well written and interesting, and is thoroughly good. But it always feels a bit more deep and a bit more nuanced.Īs an overall comic, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. It’s not very subtle, of course, it’s still lead by a giant green person and somewhere in there the point will always be made explicitly, in writing. Like most of the book, it feels almost subtle: It outlines the character’s struggle in a way that hints at all the underlying turmoil, but trusts the reader to get it without having to spell it all out. Is that the end of this book? In my five years of comics reading I’ve never found a comic news site I got really comfortable with (or ever really looked for one, to be honest, so leave your suggestions below), so I don’t even know where to look it up, but it does say “the end” and it ends with Jen leaving her law firm, and as we all know She-Hulk comics are always defined by the law firm Jennifer Walters is in.Īnyway, this is a fitting ending for a very good, very solid book.
